“For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” – Romans 11:29 (NKJV)
God is always calling, calling us from a life of the flesh to a walk in the Spirit. The Bible says Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfil the lust or cravings of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).
One Wednesday night, two friends were imbibing and smoking, getting high. They then decided to attend Church. One friend said to the other, “Tonight at the church, where they have a youth fellowship, we will meet the girls there”. The youth fellowship, however, was cancelled, and they had a Bible Study instead. So they said,” Let’s stay anyway.” Upon going in, they heard singing, and they joined in, in colloquial language, ‘high as a kite,’ dancing, clapping and singing.
The pastor got up to teach and explain the Word. The men could not understand why they felt so convicted. So the pastor made an altar call and asked if there was anyone here who needed Jesus Christ in their heart. The two friends got up and walked down the aisle to the altar and knelt there, crying, confessing their sins, and saying, “God, I’m sorry for all the bad things I’ve done.”
At the end of the service, the pastor extended an invitation for them to return. As they were going home that night, there was silence in the car all the way home. The following Wednesday, they returned to the Bible Study and sat there, not high but in their right minds, receiving the instruction from the Word of God.
They kept going to the church, and eventually, Seminary School. The one who was dancing the most met his wife, they got married, and he became a youth pastor, serving in the same church.
Yes, God is always calling us. What are you waiting on?
